Protection from Violence
CLC’s Integrated Domestic Violence Court Practice focuses on representing eligible children who require Orders of Protection against family or household members accused of sexual assault, and in cases of intimate partner violence including violence, stalking, and sexual assault. Our goal is to secure the safety and well-being of our clients by advocating for their needs.
Lisa
While checking in with our client Lisa, we learned that her father had broken into her mother’s home the prior Saturday, assaulting her mother and her mother’s boyfriend. Lisa heard the assault and came into the room. She tried to intervene to stop her father and called 911.
Lisa informed us that she was afraid of her father, did not want to see him anymore and wanted an Order of Protection against him. We filed an emergency Order to Show Cause seeking to suspend the temporary Order of Visitation and asking that a temporary Order of Protection be issued on behalf of Lisa. We obtained interim relief and a TOP to ensure Lisa felt safe in her own home.
