Settlement

a family court settlement is when two parents in a custody/visitation case come to an agreement about custody and visitation arrangements and the judge creates a final, official order of custody.

Liam’s parents reached a settlement about where he would live and when he would visit each of them.

A settlement is when the people in a court case agree on a plan—like for custody or visitation—with help from their attorneys and the judge.

The judge makes sure the plan works for everyone and turns it into a final court order.
