Similar to custody, It’s about who the child is going to live with and who is going to make decisions about them.

The big difference between guardianship and custody is that no one can have custody over a person who is older than 18, but someone can be a person’s guardian until that person is 21 years old. That person has to consent to having a guardian beyond the age of 18.
